Malaysia e-invoicing

1. What is an e-Invoice? 
An e-Invoice is a digital record of a transaction between a supplier and a buyer that replaces paper or electronic documents such as invoices, credit notes and debit notes, and contains all relevant data fields required by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM). 

 

2. How do I request an e-Invoice for my purchase?
If you are a registered account holder at the time of purchase, you can request a copy of e-Invoice of eligible purchases by contacting our Customer Support. 

Please ensure that you have the transaction ID of your purchase ready at the time of contacting our Customer Support. To obtain the transaction ID, please login to your account and proceed to ‘Transaction History’. 

 

3. When can an e-Invoice be requested for your purchase? Is there a timeline to request for e-Invoice?
You must request the e-Invoice within the same month as the transaction. For instance, if your purchase was made on 1 January 2025 or 29 January 2025, the latest you can request the e-Invoice is by 31 January 2025 (Malaysia time zone).
Please note that requests submitted after the end of the transaction month will not be accepted.

 

4. What if the request for e-Invoice is not made within the timeframe given?
Unfortunately, if the request is not made within the specified timeframe, you will no longer be able to request an e-Invoice.

 

5. How do I get my Tax Identification Number (TIN)? 
You can retrieve your TIN from the MyTax portal after logging in.

 

6. I do not want to share my ID and TIN, can I request for an e-Invoice?
Buyer must provide both their ID and TIN. The IRBM system only allows the validation of an e-Invoice when both ID and TIN are provided. 

 

7. Where can I find the e-Invoice?
Once the e-Invoice has been validated by IRBM, it will be sent to the email address provided in the submission form. Please note that the e-Invoice will be sent only once to the email address provided.

 

8. When can I expect to receive the e-Invoice? 
You can expect to receive the e-Invoice via email by the end of the month following the one in which your request was submitted. For example, if your request is submitted in January 2025, the e-Invoice will be sent no later than the end of February 2025. 

 

9. What if I accidentally input the wrong personal information?
Unfortunately, if you have entered incorrect personal information and the request is rejected by the IBRM, you will not be able to request an e-Invoice for that transaction again. We strongly encourage you to carefully verify all details before submitting your personal information.

 

10. Can I request for another e-Invoice if the previous request has been rejected?
No, an e-Invoice request can only be submitted once per transaction ID. If your initial request is rejected, you will not be able to submit another request for an e-Invoice for the same transaction.
